I work with teens 16+, adults, couples, and families. My approach to therapy is holistic, meaning I will see you for all of what makes you who you are, versus focusing on one part of you. In a safe, warm, and empowering environment, I will help you unpack experiences that have led you to where you are today. I enjoy working with those who feel they have a difficult time connecting with others (and themselves) on an emotional level and do not understand why. I work with veterans and military personnel, first responders, anxiety, substance/behavioral addictions, trauma, intimacy/relationship issues, attachment issues/codependency, and low self-esteem. I work comfortably with different multicultural issues, existential issues, the military, aviation professionals, and the LGBTQ+ population. My goal is to help my clients feel empowered, capable, and deserving to reach and maintain their desired goals.
My primary theoretical orientation is rooted in a Humanistic, relational approach and I primarily conceptualize from an Adlerian and Existential perspective. Using these approaches, I will help you explore important memories, your relational dynamics, and your current connection with the world, others, and yourself. I will help you identify and become aware of the meaning behind thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to facilitate growth. I use strength-based approaches that recognize the client’s ability to grow and develop problem-solving skills and insight.
For couples, I primarily utilize Emotionally Focused Couple's Therapy and Attachment Theory. I am passionate about helping couples identify attachment wounds and different perspectives to enhance their emotional and physical connections. I’m also certified in Prepare/Enrich to help premarital and married couples strengthen their relationships and learn skills to navigate the challenges that naturally come with having a life partner. Using Prepare/Enrich, there is an assessment portion for the couples to complete followed by feedback and process sessions. For premarital couples, this participation is recognized by Texas as an adequate premarital preparation course, which qualifies candidates to receive a discount up to $60 when they apply for their marriage license. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Emilee Aschenbrenner, LPC-S. I earned my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas at Dallas. I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Texas with dual minors in Criminal Justice and Addiction Studies which focused on the treatment for substance use, and met the criteria for a License in Chemical Dependency Counseling. I have experience providing individual and group therapy services in a residential facility for those seeking treatment for substance addictions and co-occurring issues, as well as group therapy for geriatric and end-of-life experiences. From my previous experience as the Office Manager at Luxx Therapy, I know how difficult it can be to reach out for counseling and I aim to make the counseling experience feel comfortable and authentic.
In my free time, I love trying new coffee shops and cafes with my husband, being active, trying new recipes, traveling, and thrifting.
I hope to talk to you soon!
